Unimak Island, AK, the first and largest island in the Aleutian Chain, as viewed from space. Cape Sarichef is at the upper right point of the island, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Bering Sea. Mt. Pogromni (upper white peak) is about 7 mi. from the cape and Mt. Shishaldin (largest white peak) is about 35 miles away. Both are active volcanoes. The lake between the two is the remnant of an ancient volcano. (NASA Photo STS047-77-34 taken from Space Shuttle Endeavor, Sept 1992, public domain)
