CPO Leonard Earl Outlaw, Korean War Veteran and Vietnam War Veteran, Born in Bertie, North Carolina, he later became a resient of Grandy, North Carolina.

CPO Leonard Earl Outlaw was a casualty of the Vietnam War and served on the USCGC Basswood. As a member of the United States Coast Guard, CPO Outlaw served our country until March 23rd, 1972 in Cam Ranh Bay, South Vietnam. He was 36 years old and was married. It was reported that He died from a Heart Attack. He was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, on December 19th, 1936. His body was recovered. CPO Outlaw is on panel 03W, line 052 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for more than 18 years.

CPO Outlaw is the Son of Mr Altis Bateman Outlaw and Mrs Mary Hayman Outlaw. He was the 1st husband to Viola Outlaw. 

CPO Outlaw served as the Chief Engineman on the USCGC Basswood. 

He was awarded The National Defense Service Medal with Devices, The United Nations Service Medal Korea, Republic of Korea War Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Vietnamese Gallantry Cross Unit Citation and various other awards.
