After the freighter's cargo was unloaded, her free-board rose high enough to expose her propeller. Using her propulsion system to leave North Star Bay could result in a major casualty from large pieces of ice that could lock up the propeller. As a precaution, the Icebreakers would return the freighters to the edge of the ice field under tow.
