being transfered to Attu in a blizzard and my friend Hal Robbins got me off while the captain took a nap. Hal was the BMC on the Point Comfort in Vietnam and when he got transferred I gave him a ride to the beach in our boston whaler. He told me He Owed me one! Who would have known years latter he would come get me off of the ice breaker with a bouy tender.

I went through survival school with Commander Hayes. Years latter he came aboard the Yocona when he was the Admiral & I the MKC. We had a nice talk. Sad to hear that after he retired he got killed by a car while he was walking down the road.

I slept really good. They kept us so active. I wasn't in the class photo because I caught the 3 day measles. Everybody had "The knot of the day" except me. Seems EN-1 Bryant was stationed in Japan and since I am Japanese I had a Japanese "Word of the day".
I was only stationed there for a month when I had a heart attack.
The CG retired me May 27, 1982
