CGSVA was initiated in August 1986 by a few Coast Guard Veterans who believed that having served in the Coast Guard was, in itself, a unique experience, and should be held in remembrance by those who served. Thus the "Coast Guard Sea Veterans of America" was formed, chartered and continues today, to let the members congregate together, in camaraderie, as shipmates forever.
The website for the Sea Vets has been re-constructed, with some format changes, and has been brought back up to date within the various pages of the Website.
Our Webmaster, Bobby Padgett, RMCM, USCG -Ret., has done an excellent job in getting the website facing with some new color, and posting of the updated Membership Roster Page. This includes the Members' names, years of service and e-mail addresses, as available. memebrs are encouraged to stop by the Website often to see what's new at: http://cgsva.lbbhost.com/ .
The CGSVA has also committed to a closer alliance with the Website, "CG Channel Community", whereby to offer a "Gathering" place for Members to converse with each other on a more personal basis. Also this provides an area of communication with all Coasties, Families, Friends and Entheusiasts, as well as all the Various Individual CG Units and Associations, all in One place. Get connected at this address: http://www.community.coastguardchannel.com/
The CGSVA has other representative connections, including the "Together We Served" Website, which includes all the other Four Military Services. Our outreach to Coasties has been ongoing since inception in 1986, and the future is very bright for the Association.
