After leaving the Guard I spent 2 1/2 years as a Police Officer in Slidell, LA. From there I became a Special Agent with the U.S. Customs Service in New Orleans. In 1995 I transferred to El Centro, CA. In 2003 the Customs Service was abolished when Homeland Security was created. I was folded into the newly created Immigration & Customs Enforcement. in 2007 I retired as a GS-14 Supervisory Special Agent.
